CLASS OF '78 - Chris Barber's Jazz and Blues Band

CLASS OF '78 - Chris Barber's Jazz and Blues Band
CD / Product Number: LACD337

Following on from LACD332 this is another attempt to fill the gap of Chris Barber's recordings from the 1970s. This collection was one of the classic issues by the Barber band of the time and had some changes in personnel: Vic Pitt had joined on bass, Roger Hill had replaced John Slaughter and Pete York - a Rock drummer previously associated with the Spencer Davis Group and The Average White Band amongst others - had joined. The most significant change, though, Was the addition of a second reed in the front line. This role was undertaken by Sammy Rimington. Sammy, who was largely regarded as a strict New Orleans style player had, actually had much more wide ranging experience and ability. It's a typical varied Chris Barber set, well recorded in concert.
