Michael White and the Old Time Jazz Band
The Helsinki based Old Time Jazz Band is the oldest group of its kind still performing in Finland, and the only one to concentrate on traditional early 1920s Black New Orleans melodies. Founded in 1957, King Oliver and the Armstrong Hot Five were its principal inspirations. The music is based on collective improvisation. Three guests joined the band for this recording, meeting for the first time in the studio. They were Michael White, Greg Stafford and Stanley A Stephens.
