Rare Cuts—Well Done Vol 11 Slip Horn — Kid Ory, Preston Jackson, DePriest Wheeler

Rare Cuts—Well Done Vol 11 Slip Horn — Kid Ory, Preston Jackson, DePriest Wheeler
CD / Product Number: JCCD3119

This volume of rare sides and out-takes features three great trombonists, Kid Ory, Preston Jackson and Depriest Wheeler. The 9 Ory tracks date form the 50s and include the seldom heard I'm With You Where You Are The personnel on these tracks are Teddy Buckner trumpet, Joe Darensbourg and Pud Brown clarinet, Buster Wilson and Lloyd Glenn piano, Ed Garland string bass and Minor Hall on drums.
The Preston Jackson tracks are earlier and date from July 1926. Here is a man with great technique and totally off the wall timing. His 6 tracks feature Shirley Clay clarinet, Artie Starks reeds, George Reynold piano, Leslie Corley amd Frank Pasley banjo and Elzadie Robinson vocals.
DePriest Wheeler's 5 tracks date from 1925 and these are the previously 'lost' and unknown Missourians tracks. Also featured on these tracks is the trumpet player Sidney DeParis. The whole Missourians band was just incredible - every player a worthy soloist. Very exciting stuff. Personnel here in addition to those mentioned were RQ Dickerson, Harry Cooper and Louis Metcalf on trumpet, David Jones, Eli Logan, Walter Thomas on saxes, Andy Preer violin, Earres Prince piano, Charles Stamps banjo and Jimmy Smith tuba.
