Pleasant 'Cousin Joe' Joseph was born in Wallace Louisiana, about 38 minles up river from New Orleans. He was one of the finest of all blues lyricists and singers. He toured with all the jazz greats including Joe Robichaux, Billie and DeDe Pierce, Harold Dejan, te Merrow Bechet band and many more. These solo tracks date from September 1978 and were recorded at the PizzaExpress in London.
The second set of tracks if from Alton Purnell and were recorded in 1965 in Sydney, Australia! He was probably the most influential and copied pianist of the 'revival' period. He played throughout the 50s to the late 80s, and was the last link with the Bunk Johnson/Goerge Lewis era.
