Gregg Stafford - That Man from New Orleans, Vol. 1
In recent years (1998) several young black musicians have begun to perform at Preservation Hall, and Gregg Stafford is certainly the most exciting of these. A veteran of brass bands since his teens, he is hardly a newcomer. His playing is characterised by drive and passion. There is no greater testament to the durability of New Orleans Jazz. This concert was recorded live on March 14th 1998 at the Silverleaf Jazz Festival in Toronto, Canada and features an interesting mix of musicians from Canada and New Orleans. Gregg Stafford trumpet and vocals, Big Bill Bissonnette trombone and vocals, Paul Boehmke clarinet and alto sax, Roberta Hunt piano, Emil Mark banjo, Colin Bray string bass and Dennis Elder drums.
