Renowned Dixieland cornet player Muggsy Spanier stayed true to the music that he grew up with. He was in the vanguard of the post-war New Orleans resurgence and the 1939 recordings by his Ragtime Band (included here) were an inspirational source for traditional jazz revivalists.
This collection features fascinating tracks from early in his career, many recordings by bands which he led and collaborations with luminaries such as Sydney Bechet and Coleman Hawkins.
