This previously unreleased compact disc features the historic first night of the Associated Artists Studio in New Orleans under its new title - Preservation Hall - on 13th July 1961 with the band Emile Barnes' Louisiana Joymakers, which includes George 'Kid Sheik' Cola on trumpet and Eddie Summers on trombone. The Hall has since become a Mecca for New Orleans jazz - known throughout the world. This CD release is to celebrate its first 50 years!
The full personnel of the Louisiana Joymakers are Kid Sheik Cola (tpt/vcl), Emile Barnes (clt), Eddie Summers (tbn), Emanuel Sayles (bjo/vcl). Alcide 'Slow Drag' Pavageau (sbs), Alex Bigard (drs) and Jim Robinson (tbn on track 14). Playing time 55m 39s
