Clarence Williams had a distinguished career in jazz and blues. His activities ranged from pianist, arranger, composer, music publisher and artist manager. His was the first black ownen music publishing company, whose first big hit was I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate. The recordings included on this CD were all made during the Depression and the original 78s are extremely rare. This is the first time some of the sessions have been presented in full with all the alternate takes.
Bands on this CD are Clarence Williams and his Orchestra, Alabama Jug Band, Birmingham Serenaders, Clarence Williams' Trio and Clarence Williams' Blue Five. 25 great tracks including some previously unissued material - dating from 1930-1941.
