RARE CUTS - Well Done Volume 4

RARE CUTS - Well Done Volume 4
£12.99
CD / Product Number: JCCD3075

This album groups some interesting New Orleans jazz from the 30s and 40s featuring one of the great banjo players, only he is not playing the banjo! The early George Guesnon sides were originally recorded on Decca. They are great and original Guesnon pieces and definitely collectable.
It also features the Kid Thomas band of the early 70s and comes from a live session. The band here includes the legendary Paul Polo Barnes on reeds!
And finally there is a non musical track which features the voices of dozens of New Orleans jazz greats arranged by Bill Bacin to say Happy Birthday to Johnny St. Cyr on his 73rd birthday. It is an extraordinary event where you can hear the living voices of some of your jazz heroes.
Personnel on the Guesnon tracks: George Guesnon vocal, Henry Goodwin, Wingy Carpenter trumpet, Art Hodes, Little Brother Montgomery, Edward J. Allen piano, Jimmy Shirley guitar, Pops Foster string bass, Bob Warren drums.
Personnel on the Kid Thomas Band tracks: Kid Thomas Valentine trumpet, Paul Barnes clarinet, Manny Paul tenor sax, Louis Nelson trombone, Charlie Hamilton piano, Emanuel Sayles banjo, Joe Butler string bass, Alonzo Stewart drums.
This will be a special import so you may have a short wait while the CD comes from the USA.
