Another one of Dot Records released on to CD , this recording was made at Wilbur Clark's Desert Hotel Inn. Surprisingly, it features Prima's trumpet playing more than anything. performance, we only hear two short songs from Keely. Louis outdoes himself on his own composition 'The Chief's Special', a song titled ... [MORE]
This re-issue from the near end of the Prima/Smith combination is definitely a good one. Originally released in 1961 by Dot records, this album has all the original features that made the Prima/Smith/Butera crew a hit, though Dot Records still liked to throw in a violinist here or there. If you're looking for a wild romp with Prima and his boys, the title of this CD says it all. [MORE]

This CD contains some Louis Prima's New York hits from the days of 'His New Orleans Gang' to some time with his Orchestra. It is also the first album in which music master Morgan Thomas joined the band. The music on it varies so much, it is hard to pin-point what type of sounds Prima was making, but there are some very jaunty versions of his own composition 'Brooklyn Boogie' and the trumpet solo on 'The Music Goes Round and Round' is outstanding. Louis ... [MORE]

This isn't Joni's legendary first album, 'Let There Be Love', but a collection of cleaned-up radio transcriptions from programs done for the U.S. government and military as a civic service. They were never intended for release on records, but they do prove Joni James in person sounded exactly the same as Joni James in the recording studio and was one artist who didn't need or rely on engineering feats for her sound.
